5 Reasons To Consider Private Labeling

By Billy Genthner

Private labeling, for those unfamiliar with the terminology, occurs when a company places their own label on a product that was created by another company. If you think it sounds a bit strange to do so, consider how many products on the market are sold in this manner. Everything from food products to auto parts to wholesale electronic cigarettes and wholesale e-liquids are sold using private labeling. There are actually many reasons why private labeling can be a good option for your business.

1. A Private Label Creates Buzz For Your Brand

If you have a shelf full of a product such as wholesale e-liquids, no doubt you sell many different brands. People might be able to find these brands at many other vape shops. But, what if you had a selection of private label wholesale e-liquids or wholesale e-cigarettes? These products would be "exclusive" to your vape shop, no one else could sell them, and they would feature your company's logo and name.

Each customer that purchases one of your private label wholesale e-liquids will see your logo and store name every time they fill up their wholesale e-cigarette. Their friends and family also might see the label and all of this builds brand recognition. Brand recognition is one of a business owner's most powerful tools. If people like your "brand," they will come back to your store for more.

2. Private Labeling Is An Affordable Option

It might seem unlikely that buying someone else's product could save you money. However, you will be paying less for a private label product than you would for a nationally known brand. So not only do you build brand recognition for your company, you will pay about 10% to 20% less to do so. Wholesale electronic cigarettes and wholesale e-liquids without a name brand, for instance, will cost much less than buying an established brand.

3. Private Labeling Provides You With More Control

When you line your shelves with brand name products, there often are some restrictions with which you have to comply. For instance, a company might not want you to bid on certain advertising keywords relating to their brand or they might have other advertising constraints. With your own brand, you are free to do as you please, especially when it comes to marketing and advertising and this can be a huge benefit. This is not to say that you shouldn't also carry some popular brand names as well, though. Just keep in mind that while a consumer can find one brand of wholesale e-liquids at many other stores, they can only find your private label at your shop.

If you are interested in private labeling, do some research and select a company that creates quality versions of products that you sell. For instance, for the wholesale e-cigarette market, there are companies that can create many unique flavors of wholesale e-liquids specifically for your company and then help you with the actual label creation and perhaps even some graphic design. All of this can set you on a path toward building up your vape shop and brand.
