With Voice Over IP Houston Companies Are Much More Competitive

By Christine Ward

In this day and age it takes hair on your teeth to compete in the global business environment. It is a cut throat world out there and only those that manage to embrace the latest technology, consumer trends and market conditions can hope to survive. Communication is crucial for those wishing to become more competitive. Consumers have more choices than ever and they can be very demanding. Without voice over IP Houston businesses are definitely at a disadvantage.

VoIP is not a new concept and it has been slow to become popular. The main reason for its initial failure to capture a large market is the fact that it is internet based. In days now gone, internet access was not as readily available as it is today and in the early days it was not reliable at all. This has changed, of course, and now one can get access from just about everywhere in the world.

For the majority of companies moving to VoIP, the initial bait was the promise of huge savings on their communication bills. They do indeed save and some large companies have reported savings of more than half of the previous bills. Quickly, however, new users find out that VoIP offers many benefits that enhances productivity and that improve their ability to satisfy their clients. Improved customer satisfaction eventually reflect on the bottom line.

One of the biggest benefits offered by this technology is the fact that it truly frees employees to be where they are needed most. With older, traditional telephone systems, users could only make and receive calls if they were physically present at their desks. This is not the case with VoIP. Users can communicate wherever they are, as long as they can access the internet. This benefit alone should be enough to motivate companies to switch.

Then there is the fact that VoIP users are not obliged to use a specific device to use the system. They can use any device they want, as long as it is able to connect to the internet. The same device does not need to be used all the time either. All the communications records of every user is stored in the cloud and is therefore available at all times.

Savings on the telephone bill is just the beginning. Older systems needed hardware, in the form of switchboards, to be installed and maintained at each and every one of their branches and sites. This is extremely expensive, even more so when one think of the cost of maintenance and the additional cost of employing switchboard operators. With VoIP none of this is necessary. There is only one installation and it is maintained by the service provider.

VoIP can make a huge contribution towards improving the productivity of each and every user. The features on offer are far superior to those offered by older systems. Voice mail, call holding and all the other familiar features are still there, but there are more. Users can arrange video conferences, they can send data and image files and they can send voice messages to either email or fax.

It seems as if the future of communication is very much tied up with the rapid advances made by the internet. VoIP offers superior communication abilities at a fraction of the price that traditional systems do. One can only marvel at the pace at which the modern world is changing.
