It is important to make sure that you always rinse the carpeting, mats, and upholstery after cleaning them to get rid of any cleaner residue. When left on the material, the residue will attract more dirt. This means that the surface will remain fresh for longer when rinsed.

The engine bay should also be another area of focus once you are done with the interior. In fact, this area should be cleaned before any other part of the car so that if any grease or dirt spills on other surfaces, it will we cleaned off later.

Drape soft cloths on the front fenders to avoid spotting or streaking the paint which can occur as a result of strong cleaners and degreasers. This also helps to shield some sections from scratching as you lean on them to clean the engine bay. For cars with electronic and computer modules integrated into the engine, it is best not to use water to avoid damaging the components.

A car's outward appearance matters a lot and hence the vehicle exterior must be another area to focus on. Detailers recommend that the lower vehicle sections are cleaned before moving to any other part of the surface.

In typical washing situations, particularly in dark colored cars, lightly spraying your best liquid wax onto the wet car surface after the final rinse has proven to be extremely helpful. This should be followed by drying using a chamois and finally capped with a light buffing of the painted surfaces with a smooth towel. This gets rid of any water spots, adds depth to your color and leaves your car with a great shine.
