Read To Find Out Why Wellsite Geology Has Inflated Over Time

By Carolyn Olson

Geology can best be defined as the study the surface of the earth, beginning with analyzing rocks that comprise it. Rocks are important because they are the building clocks of this planet. A wellsite is an area wherein things like gas and oil can be extracted from. When it comes down to it, the size of these work sites will correspond with how much space a production facility needs.

A person who takes charge of all the different drilling stages is called a wellsite geologist. This person is also responsible for managing the extraction of resources in an area. Other duties include scanning and studying rocks from these wells in order to make the drilling process run smoothly. These spots are located all around the world, but the most popular is wellsite geology Permian Basin.

This basin got its name from two different ones situated in Midland and Delaware. This zone is a sedimentary depression which can be found at the southeastern point of New Mexico, with Texas on the other side. Due to this, it is included in the midcontinent producing area.

Due to its location and resources, it is consists of the largest deposit of Permian rocks. Not only that, it is also labeled as the second largest producer of oil and natural gas. Following this, it is a major source of potash, more commonly known as potash salts.

In the past, the land was actually the home of a group of local tribes. However, due to the war, they were relocated by the U. S. Army in eighteen seventy five. When the war was over, the next occupants were ranchers and farmers. The main reason why they stayed was because of its rich grasslands. The only problem was the lack of surface water, but this was quickly resolved by means of drilling. As a result, they were able to uncover other resources.

It was officially discovered in 1921 during the time when drilling first became authorized. Beginning from the initial discovery, up to present, there are no sign of it slowing down. Since production began, people have gathered more than 29 billion oil barrels and 75 cubic feet consisting of gas. Aside from its many contributions, it aided during the second world war through the resources it provided to create more firearms.

There has been a large rise of wellsite geology over the years, most notably in America. Oil extraction is now at its highest peak, due to its continuous growth. According to recent studies, the production rates are estimated to continue its steady increase in the next decade. This is good news to politicians and economists, because this means improvement, economy wise.

Following the inflation of production, there is a need to increase the equipment used as well. This entails equipment that aids in transporting hydrocarbons from the work site, to oil refineries and gas processing plants. Of course, more equipment will mean the need for more workers. This means there will be a rise in job opportunities in this industry that people can take advantage of.

By now, the Permian Basin is obviously one of the primary reasons of the rise in this study. It only contributes to scientific research, it also helps economically. Due to its many contributions, it is important to also put enough work in its preservation so it can continue to be used for more generations to come.
